Are you having difficulty finding the resources you’re looking for? Consider the tips below to assist your search:
- Harm reduction terminology is highly medicalized. This means that for each intervention / service, there are multiple appellations that can be used. Consider alternating your search parameters based on the various names and acronyms. For example, Needle and Syringe Exchange Programmes can be labeled Needle Syringe Programmes, NESP, NSP, Needle Exchange, and so on. Below a list of key terms and other potential appellations
- Pharmacotherapy – Methadone Maintenance Treatment - Methadone Maintenance Therapy – Oral Substitution Treatment / Therapy – Buprenorphine Maintenance Treatment / Therapy – MMT – OST – Methadone replacement – drug dependence treatment – Opioid substitution treatment;
- Anti-retroviral treatment – ART – Anti-retroviral therapy – ARV – HIV drug;
Harm reduction – harm minimization – risk reduction;
- Injecting drug users – IDU – Injectors – people who inject drugs;
- If you are still encountering difficulties in locating a particular publication in the AHRN library, you can always contact the AHRN Librarian at
wathanees@ahrn.net . If AHRN cannot provide the requested document, consider searching through Google by adding the filetype you are looking for ie. PDF.
- Note that the AHRN library search engine does not allow for compound searches – the use of Boolean operators “and”, “or” is not supported by the AHRN search engine. That means that the keyword / text string you enter in the search field will be matched to content of publications. In other words, if you type “Laos and Cambodia” the search results will display all publications containing “Laos and Cambodia”. The AHRN search engine will display only results matching the keyword / text string requested.
